Humanities / Arts (Class 11–12)
✅ Starts directly after Class 10What is Humanities / Arts?
Humanities (called Arts in many schools) is the most diverse and most misunderstood stream in India. It covers History, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Geography, Literature, Fine Arts, and more. Students who choose Humanities go on to be IAS officers, lawyers, journalists, psychologists, designers, social workers, policy experts, and creative professionals — often with more career diversity than any other stream.
Communication, society, creativity, law, and public serviceGood fit if…
Students curious about people, society, culture, language, and communication. Students who love reading, writing, debating, creating, or helping communities. Students targeting UPSC Civil Services, law, journalism, design, or psychology should seriously explore Humanities.
Think carefully if…
Students who believe "Humanities has no scope" — this is one of the most harmful myths in Indian education. The scope is different from engineering, not smaller.

Things to Know First
"Humanities has no scope" is one of the most damaging myths in Indian education. IAS officers, Supreme Court judges, foreign diplomats, leading journalists and authors — most come from Humanities backgrounds.
The key is choosing colleges seriously. A BA from DU, JNU, Hyderabad Central University, or Ashoka carries weight. Compensate for a weaker college with internships, competitive exam prep, and strong writing skills.
Economics as an optional in Humanities adds huge value — it opens business, analytics, and policy doors alongside the social science paths.
